How We Started

Start in 1959

State Material Mason Supply’s story begins back in 1959. What started with one concrete truck, expanded to a large family business that has been striving for excellence. From the start, President, Frank Nicolia was working on the floor and in the yard at the Westbury location. “My brothers and I have the same business philosophy. We understand that we are not only the boss, but we are also employees and come to work every day just like everyone else to get a job done.” said Frank Nicolia. In 1980, State Material started with only 6 employees and a ¾ acre building. Handwritten tickets were created, and pricing was based off memory with a 3ft wide price book on the counter.

Masonry staple items such as brick, stone, and cement increased to allow for a more versatile selection. Meanwhile, in 1989 State Material transfer to a fully digital POS system. It was time to make big moves. Therefore in 1992, State Material moved to its current Westbury location. With an increase in space, State Material is able to to fulfill the needs of the customer base. Likewise, having a keen understand of future trends to better benefit customers. To accommodate our east end shoppers, State Material Riverhead was open for business in 1998.

2010’s

In 2012 Deer Park location was acquired followed by Kings Park in 2015. Each State Material Supply Store offers an extensive line of products and tools. As a result, we’ve earned our customers trust to feel confident in purchasing with State. Our customers and our success go hand in hand. “Contractors return to state because I’ve always maintained competitive pricing, large inventory and willing to go the extra mile to keep contractors happy.” said Nicolia. “When I see our trucks on the road, I think to myself, what I’m doing is working and to keep doing it and get better.”

Regardless of the economic situations the world may be facing, State Material continues to succeed. Keeping up with trends comes naturally and today, State Material Mason Supply has 4 locations that efficiently serve the entire Long Island & NYC Market.

We’ve been able to make a difference to our customers from amazing people, products, and prices. In addition, we always look forward to new ways of helping homeowners, contractors, and landscapers alike.
